The Holocaust would have happened with or without IBM, but American technology allowed it to happen faster and more comprehensively. Watson's company facilitated the use of perforated cards to identify individual affiliations.

Clarin, Argentina

The Ends and the Means… IBM, and its German subsidiary, with its technology of perforated Hollerith cards, provided the means to register the property of Jews. It did not just sell the machines to Germany but facilitated a collaboration and technical help that literally adapted to the needs of genocide.
Diario de Cuyo, Argentina

The strategic alliance between Nazi Germany and the most powerful North American Corporation transformed the program of annihilation of Hitler's Jews into a technological mission by means of perforated cards. IBM sent more than 2 thousand machines to Germany, and thousands more to a Europe dominated by Hitler. Additionally, the subsidiaries of IBM, fabricated up to 500 million perforated cards per year. IBM . . . is now directly implicated in the Holocaust from the ascendancy of Hitler until the surrender of Germany.

Watson received the Cross of Merit of the German Eagle with Star for his services to the Reich. And the Hollerith system employed by its Dehomag subsidiary was the only one used to supervise the population of the camps of concentration. Nevertheless IBM is IBM. Therefore it was no surprise that it decided to eliminate its own promotional book, The History of Computing in Europe, where it records its dealings with Hitler.
